How To Take Action

Because of what we’ve done together, pre-k expansion is a priority in NJ! Let’s keep the momentum!

NJ’s state-funded, full-day pre-k has become available to more of our state’s 3- and 4-year-olds. In the past three years, the number of school districts with NJ’s pre-k has grown to nearly 150! Governor Murphy’s originally proposed FY2021 budget included continued funding for them – and funding for approximately 30 new ones! Although pre-k expansion is one of the Governor’s priority efforts, COVID-19 created historic challenges and necessitated focus on safety and continued learning rather than expansion into new school districts for 2020-2021. Therefore, the Governor made a difficult decision not to provide his proposed funding for pre-k expansion in any new districts. However, the Governor and Legislature did provide funding through September 30 for already planned, approved pre-k expansion for NJ’s 3- and 4-year-olds – and their working families! The focus today: let’s keep the momentum!

Both the governor and NJ’s legislative leadership are committed to pre-k expansion. How can you keep the momentum? Check out each box below for the many ways you can take action. Also: let your school district officials know that you want pre-k expansion in your community!
